Nikky...Wow, Nikki Burnette has some amazing art in her store perfect for us crafters to colour and practice! I picked this beautiful image called MINA when I saw the challenge. I feel like I cheated a little with the pattern but I really really wanted to colour this and make all that water - it just seems to me like this is a porthole and she is swimming through it from the sea and all that water is gushing through....I used the Blues colour palette but I had to add some purples and greens so in the end it changed, but hey! that's what colour palettes are there for - to inspire us and help us along the way.
The main challenge for me here was that I used the Blender and Mix It fluid and Palette very heavily on this image to give me loads of really lush blending and effects.

The Mix'It palette is a substrate which allows you to custom blend your Graph'It colours onto and then pick the colour up with a blender to give you a much softer blend....so instead of adding colour to the image and then trying to blend it out ON the paper, you mix the colour with Mix'It fluid, use the blender to pick it up and then apply - resulting in soft fluffy clouds like on this one - just keep using your blender pen to soften the edges as you build up the colour in layers....(you really need to do this with a brush nib)
I used the same palette technique on the water and on the tail - helping me create an almost luminous effect because you can add more and more layers without worring about blending everything out and making a mess - you need to practice a little first. I used my Graph'It Shake white pen (desert island product for me) to add definition to the water coming through the porthole and to add splashes.
Colours used:
Skin: 4101, 4105, 4125, 4150, 3105, 6110 lilac, 6130 Lilac cheeks 4145, 4135
Blues/greens on mermaid and sea: 7220, 7240, 7260, 7280, 6145, 6150, 6155, 6195
Reds: 5220, 5245, 5280

Claire C I've had fun with my Mix'It Palette and Fluid along with my blender pen colouring this gorgeous image from Nikki Burnette

I have to confess I've lost my list of colours but I used my blender pen to create the brick effect on the wall and I used my Mix'It palette to create the sky and candlelight effect

Yvonne - Hi there everyone! Well these images are GOR-geous! I loved the image I got to play with, the challenge was a stinker though! Lol!!! I used 'Serafina & Firenze' and you can find it here.  You see the rule of thumb is and always should be...........do the background FIRST! So obviously, I coloured my image and it took me ages and I was sooooo happy with it and then I remembered I was supposed to be creating a pattern........uh-oh! Then I thought, embossing folders, they are patterns and you get embossing folders with clouds on them, soooooo lets do a background with clouds.

With my Mix It fluid, my Mix It Palette and my blender pen I went for it and to be honest I am not 100% sure it worked, BUT I gave it a go! I coloured the image with the following markers:

Skin: 4125, 3105, 3110, mix it palette
Purples: 6130, 6140, 6150
Greens: 8290, 8270, 8245
Wand: 3255, 3230, 3120
Bird: 3120, 3230, 3255, 1210, 1240, 1280, 7125 (eye)
Witchy power glow: 1110, 1180
Greys added into to clothing: 9502, 9503, 9500
Clouds: 9501, 9500, 9101 - lots of blender
Sky: 7101, 7105, 9100, mix it palette
Mountain path: 9500 (base) dots of 9101, 9501, 9502, 9503, blender!

Oh and although I started off with the traditional Halloween palette, I think it's safe to say in the end I used both!!!! :)

Amazing colouring from the team, Wow!!
